If you continue your pregnancy, Alpha Center can provide a list of resources to help you obtain prenatal care. Our center partners with many outside community doctors and agencies to offer a wide range of services, resources, and ongoing support.
Alpha Center also provides educational opportunities in individual and group learning environments to discuss various life skills.
Is It Really Possible For Me To Parent?
At Alpha Center, we believe you can be a successful parent with the proper support. Parenting can be one of life’s greatest joys, but it is also a little overwhelming, especially if you were not expecting to be a parent. But to help you in your journey, we offer classes, plus material and emotional support.
The following is some of the assistance we offer:
Labor and Delivery Classes
Alpha Women’s Resource Center’s registered nurse offers a five-week series of classes to moms at least 24 weeks pregnant. Topics covered include the third trimester of pregnancy through the postpartum period. Mothers are encouraged to bring a partner.
After completing the class, a mother receives one of the following gifts:
- Front/rear car seat
- Highchair
- Bouncer seat
- Stroller
- Baby tub set
Breastfeeding Classes
Alpha Center’s registered nurse offers three (3) classes scheduled individually with the mom before childbirth. After childbirth, mothers can meet with the nurse for continued support until they are six (6) weeks postpartum.
Earn While You Learn
These are customized lessons on topics ranging from prenatal care to child care for children up to age two. The study plan helps parents learn how to raise healthy, happy children.
Some of the topics we cover:
- Relationship skills
- Financial classes on using a checkbook and how to get the most out of your grocery dollars
- Understanding basic household tasks
Each person completes a “Getting Acquainted” survey to help determine which classes would be the most beneficial for them.
For every completed lesson, “mommy money” and/or “daddy money” is earned and can be used to redeem baby items offered in the center’s baby store. These items range from diapers and baby accessories to clothing, cribs, car seats, and strollers.
Women Of Worth
The Women of Worth program emphasizes character building and making positive changes to give a woman a healthy future. Women are guided to see that their true worth does not come from relationships, successes, or beauty.
